BBC News OnlineJersey Post has announced an increase in the cost of sending a letter due to a drop in the number of them being sent.
A local letter is going up by 1p and a letter to the UK, Isle of Man and other Channel Islands is going up by 2p.
The government-owned company says it predicts there will be an 8% drop in letter mail this year despite the number of households increasing.
Niall McClure from Jersey Post said: "We have worked hard to keep this year’s increases below RPI (Retail Price Index) wherever possible, but as an organisation we continue to face a number of major external challenges."
Price increases:
- Local Letter (100g) - from 49p to 50p
- UK, IOM and CI letter (100g) from 63p to 65p
- European letter (100g) - from 73p to 76p

Normally Guernsey Water supplies about 12 million litres of water on an average day but at the beginning of the month - when snow and freezing temperatures hit the islands - the amount increased to nearly 17 million litres.
The company says the figure is steadily dropping back down as more leaks and bursts are found and repaired.
On Wednesday usage dropped to 270,000 litres more than the daily average for March.
As usage is still higher than usual the company is urging customers to check pipes under their control including feeding fields, vineries and unoccupied properties for leaks and bursts.

The laws include the introduction of same-sex marriage, humanist weddings and outdoor weddings.
Figures released by the registrar found the number of people getting married in the island was at its lowest since 2002 with just 447 couples last year.

Autism diagnosed locally after five-month suspensionpublished at 07:28 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2018

BBC Radio GuernseyNew cases of autism, external in young people in Guernsey are now able to be diagnosed locally for the first time in five months.
In October, GPs stopped referring young patients after an experienced paediatrician left their post.
Health and Social Care (HSC) said it made the decision to suspend diagnosing new cases because it didn't know when it would have the necessary paediatric support needed to accept more referrals.
It added families where a child or young person may be autistic continued to receive support and additional services.
The Guernsey Secretary of the National Autistic Society, Catherine Hall, said the decision to stop new children and young people from being diagnosed was "unacceptable" as it left many parents in limbo with nowhere local to turn.
A new temporary paediatrician is now in post while HSC recruits a permanent replacement.

Community pharmacy scheme being reviewedpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2018

BBC News OnlineA scheme aimed at reducing the number of patients readmitted to hospital in Jersey is being reviewed by the president of the Royal Pharmaceutical society.
The pilot scheme, which has been running since January, is designed to reduce re-admissions by giving patients easy to understand information about their medication and support from community pharmacists.
The scheme was launched after an audit in 2017 found that for 13% of patients re-admitted to hospital within six weeks of being discharged the cause was an error in the way they had taken their medication.
Ash Soni, from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, is meeting community pharmacists involved in the pilot to see how well it is working.
The community pharmacists meet with patients discharged from hospital to ensure their medication routine is being followed and any questions can be answered.

Guernsey milk price 'can't be compared to the UK'published at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2018
14:15 GMT 8 March 2018
BBC Radio Guernsey
You can't compare the wholesale price of milk in Guernsey to the price of milk in the UK according to a spokesman for the Guernsey Farmers Association.
The wholesale price will go up by 4.75p per litre from 25 March with 2.5p per litre going to farmers to compensate for rising costs.
James Watts from the association says the Guernsey dairy market is totally different to the UK market.
He said: "The price will always be compared to the price in the UK and every year we say the same thing - in the UK the price is so low because supermarkets hold immense control and have much more buying power."
Minister claims 'powerful mandate' for hospital planpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2018
13:35 GMT 8 March 2018
Chris Stone
BBC Radio JerseyJersey's health minister says he has a "powerful mandate" for getting on with the new hospital project even though only half of people in a survey thought it should be built on the existing site.
The survey of a 1,000 people, carried out for the States by ComRes, asked for their opinions on the plans to knock down the hospital and rebuild it while still caring for patients there.
The polling organisation asked people whether they thought a new hospital was needed and where it should be built.
About 90% of those responding said a new hospital was needed but they weren't as convinced that it should be built on the existing site.
The planning department rejected the previous plans to build the £466m hospital on the site of the current Jersey General Hospital earlier this year. New plans are due to be submitted in the next few weeks.
Of those responding to the survey 47% said the current site was the wrong place for the new hospital despite ministers being committed to that option.
A third of those people said that they would accept it if that meant there would be no further delay in building the hospital.
